to see "THE THORN" at the historic Saenger Theater

March 17-21, 2026

"The Thorn" takes you on an energetic journey through Biblical times. A slave boy stumbles upon John, by then the last living disciple of Jesus, and encourages John to recount his memories of Christ's time on earth.

The play is a stunning scripture study extraordinaire. It takes you on a tour of the life of Jesus with emotionally powerful music, amazing scenery and dramatic visual arts.

The tentative itinerary is as follows:

Tuesday March 17 - Travel to New Orleans and stay at Providence Guest House.

Wednesday March 18 & Thursday March 19 - Free Days in New Orleans. See the WWII museum. Take a tour of a historic plantation. See the sights of the historic French Quarter. Shop in the French Market. Tour the Bible museum at New Orleans Seminary. Walk the Garden District. Tour the Superdome. Tour Mardi Gras world. See the NOLA Art museum. Take a cemetery tour. Play golf at Bayou Oaks. Eat beignets or a muffuletta. Ride the famous streetcar. Tour art museums, the Superdome, or take a ride into the swamp.

Friday March 20 - See THE THORN at the Saenger Theater

Saturday March 21 - travel home and get ready to be in church Sunday to hear the terrific Bethel University Renaissance Choir on March 22.

The tentative cost is $325 to $395 per person, including tickets to THE THORN, travel, lodging, 3 breakfasts, etc.

Meals (other than the 3 breakfasts) are "dutch treat" (you pay!).

The cost of other tours or museums is not included.

To secure you spot on the trip, we need a $100 deposit when you sign up. The balance of your costs will be due January 4 so that we can pay for the tickets, etc.

Spots are limited. I have only 20 rooms booked/held (for 40 people). They are all double occupancy rooms (a single room surcharge will be applied for a single). First come, first served on the signups!
